Case 345
The Missing Painting
A framed artwork disappeared from a private hallway.
Rule: exactly one suspect is guilty. The guilty suspect lies. Every innocent suspect tells the truth.
Harper
“Either Jordan or Kai is guilty.”
Dakota
“Neither Jordan nor Kai is guilty.”
Jordan
“Either Harper or Dakota is guilty.”
Lane
“Dakota and Jordan are both innocent.”
Kai
“Neither Jordan nor Lane is guilty.”
Who is guilty?
Solution: Harper
If Harper is guilty, Harper's statement is false and every other statement is true. Testing the other suspects creates at least one contradiction.
