CASE ZERO DAILY
Case 275

The Missing Painting

Hard

A framed artwork disappeared from a private hallway.

Rule: exactly one suspect is guilty. The guilty suspect lies. Every innocent suspect tells the truth.
Sam

“Lane and Riley are both innocent.”

Quinn

“Neither Lane nor Riley is guilty.”

Rowan

“Either Sam or Lane is guilty.”

Lane

“Riley is innocent.”

Riley

“Sam and Quinn are both innocent.”

Who is guilty?

Solution: Rowan

If Rowan is guilty, Rowan's statement is false and every other statement is true. Testing the other suspects creates at least one contradiction.
